Scouting at Diamantina

Diamantina Scout Group provides young people aged 5 to 15 with fun and challenging opportunities to grow through adventure. We are part of Scouts Australia - one of the largest youth development organisations in Australia with around 70,000 members. What makes us unique is our diverse range of activities that develop skills in young people - leadership, teamwork, problem solving and communication.

Today’s Scouts take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping

and bushcraft, and active challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, snow activities,

rock climbing, sailing… even flying!

The Scouts Australia Program incorporates contemporary issues such as youth health, responsible risk-taking, and

vocational skills. We offer an Award Scheme that encourages participation in the full range of activities available and

provides recognition of individual achievement.

Joey Scouts

Joey Scouts is the first Section of Scouts for boys and girls aged 5 to 8, and it’s all about discovery and excitement!

Joey Scouts are encouraged to express themselves creatively, through games, stories and craft activities. From building monsters and spaceships from scrap items, to growing plants from seedlings and singing songs together, all Joey Scouts develop a strong sense of belonging and an understanding of the world around them.

Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts is for boys and girls aged 8 to 11 years, and focuses on exploring the outdoors, discovery and learning interesting things! Cub Scouts belong to a Pack and begin to learn leadership and teamwork in small teams called Patrols.

If you enjoy fun, games and learning new skills then you’ll love being a Cub Scout! You’ll get to go on camps with your Pack, and you might attend a Cuboree camp with hundreds of other Cub Scouts! As well as learning things like how to use a compass, you’ll go on bushwalks, bike trips, and have the chance to do things like sailing, canoeing, abseiling and sometimes even flying!

Scouts

The Scout section is for boys and girls aged 11 to 14 years and offers an amazing array of activities designed to teach important life skills and get Scouts social and active!

Scouts, as a section, focuses on allowing young people to develop their confidence and teaches them how to work as part of a team. Scouts learn essential outdoor safety skills as well as participate in a variety of physical and intellectual challenges. The programs are designed to target each young person’s own special interests, encouraging them to enjoy their favourite hobbies using meaningful badges and awards.

Epic bushwalks and camping expeditions, getting out on the water in a kayak, canoe or sailboat or even going up in a plane on a visit to an Air Activity Centre are just some of the adventures Scouts get up to!
